Drug Biomarker Discovery and Genomic Data Science: A Hands-On Introduction

Course Description

Embark on an immersive journey into the realm of genomic data science with our project-based learning experience. Led by seasoned SeqHub mentors, students will explore the intricacies of genomic data analysis and its practical applications, focusing on the development of a drug biomarker for personalized medicine using the public Cancer Dependency Map (DEPMAP) Project.

Through hands-on coding, data pre-processing, organization, analysis, and report documentation, students will gain invaluable skills and insights into the dynamic field of genomic data science and its pivotal role in drug discovery.

What Students Will Learn and How

Throughout the program, students will:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of genomic data analysis principles and techniques, including navigating and utilizing public genomic databases like the Cancer Dependency Map (DEPMAP) Project.
  • Deepen proficiency in coding, data pre-processing, organization, and analysis of genomic data, exploring its application in drug discovery and personalized medicine through best practices and machine learning.
  • Enhance analytical and problem-solving skills through hands-on project work and collaborative learning.
